Getting a tattoo is a very exciting event in someones life, but what
some people do not realize is you have to care for your tattoo even
after the two week healing period. After all, you have spent a good
chunk of change to get your skin inked and endured some pain, so why not
take care of it and try to keep it as brilliant and pretty as it was
the day you got it. Of course there are some things that you can not
control regrading your tattoo when you age.
Your tattoo can change
its appearance for a variety a reasons that we just simply can not
control. For one, the aging process, unfortunately there isn't really
anything we can do about that. The appearance of your tattoo will change
as your skin stretches, shrinks and ages. The pigment of your tattoo
moves imperceptibly over time on a cellular level and the elasticity and
skin resiliency simply decline on their own. Other culprits that can
take a toll on your tattoos color, clarity and brilliance are age spots,
tanning and wrinkles.
So what can you do to help preserve your
tattoo? Well just be sure to follow the aftercare instructions your
tattoo artist gives you. And after the two week healing period is over
don't stop moisturizing your tattoo. A good rule to follow is, every
time you get out of the shower apply some lotion to your tattoo to keep
it moisturized and to help preserve the ink. Also try to avoid direct
sunlight. If you are out in the sun be sure that you wear a sunblock of
45 or higher and re-apply often.
